The Houses of Parliament are based in Westminster in the center of London, on the North bank of the River Thames. Hence its other name is the Palace of Westminster. The House of Lords is the second chamber of the House of Parliament. The debating chamber of members of the House of Lords is known as Peers. The role of the House of Lords is to complement the work of the House of Commons, consider and revise legislation, debate issues of importance and provide a forum for government ministers to be questioned.
