Africa is the poorest and the most under-developed continent in the world. In 2005, the growth of the continent was estimated as 4.9% and 5.5% in 2006. We can suppose that the reasons for such a slow development are the numerous civil wars, corruption and we can even wonder about the consequences of colonization. All these points bring to us one topic: the leadership style. There are six leadership styles: the visionary style, coaching style, affiliative style, democratic style, pace-setting style and commanding style. Four of these leadership styles will be studied in this file through an analysis of five leaders. Our file is based on five leaders living in the west and in South Africa: Nelson Mandela and Patrice Motsepe who come from South Africa, Charles Taylor who was the president of Liberia, Cire Kane who lives in Senegal and Idrissa Ouedraogo who comes from Burkina Faso. Each country has problems in terms of economy and also social problems. So the main question is to know which style of leadership could favour the development of Africa.
