The United States is a federal republic, which means that republic shares sovereignty between different levels of government. This system of government is opposed to a unitary republic like France. The Constitution of the United States of America is one of the oldest in the world which was accepted on the 17th of September in 1787, by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. It was applied in 1789 after declaring its independence in 1776. At the origin, the constitution was ratified by thirteen states whereas now there are fifty sovereign states. We examine the various methods by which the U.S federal government has maintained its superiority over the states and whether such a move has positive or negative outcomes.

[...] Because of this shared sovereignty, an American is a citizen from both of the federal entities and of his or her domicile state. The Constitution defines the three branches of government, first of all the legislative branch dealing with the Congress then the executive branch led by the President and finally the judicial branch dealing with the Supreme Court. The Constitution has been amended twenty-seven times, the first ten amendments are known as the Bill of Rights. The Constitution describes the powers and duties of each branch. [...]
[...] In my opinion the United States constitution is made to enforce the power of the federal governement and keep the power of states governement with different limits imposed by the constitution (1Oth amendment and article 4). Howewer i think that it's necessary in federal republic to impose superiority over the state or else it will be anarchical. Moreover, the United States is a great country; the federal system seems to be the most appropriate. The federal government gets the most important power to keep the unity of the United States, that's why each states government has to respect the constitution of the United State which is the supreme law. [...]
[...] However the constitution can be amended, altought the federalime points up the federal government. The system also serves the interests of the states government which is a positive outcome for them. As conclusion federalism is the system the most adapted to the territories geography of the United states, it includes advantages and drawbacks for the states government nowadays the federal government has affirmed its own superiority over the states. This tendency is a negative outcome for states government even if they have a lot of power in their territories. [...]
[...] The federal governement and state government have concurrent power that is means that they have authority in the same field ( like taxes, courts, health . The competences of the states governement apply to own territories and no to the territory of the United States. Each state receives representation in the House of representative in proportion to its population but is entitled to at least one Representative. Thanks to the House of the representative, each state can express itself at federal level. [...]
