China, one of the biggest countries of the world after Russia and Canada, is located in the East coast of Asia. This country is also one of the most populated with 1. 324. 655. 000 inhabitants, according to the latest figures and it represents one fifth of the world's population (The Economist, 2007). However, the population of China is getting stable and is monitored by the strict rules of the government's "one child? policy, coupled with a change of the lifestyles of the Chinese. (Ogilvy, Schwartz & Flower, 2000, p.41). In terms of organization, China has a particular division system where "the country is divided into provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities?. In addition, the country has 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 centrally administered municipalities and two special administrative regions such as Honk Kong and Macao where a high degree of independence and autonomy is offered.
[...] Some people forecast good things, and others bad things. However, there is a strong possibility that China will become an important power and will revolutionize the world. Trends are here and the country has many assets as enormous labour forces and ressouces .But it will be necessary that China resolves all its problems to access to this power such as pollution, poverty, corruption, legal system And it is a difficult challenge. However, the world constantly changes and it is very unstable Some external distrurbances can totaly change trends such as wars, the breakdown of the stock exchange, rates of currency, the emergence of new countries that we ignore and consequences can bend all forecasts. [...] The environment may seem to be secondary and not crucial for the future but it is too important and facts are here. On the one hand, if government does nothing about the problem of pollution, situation will be worse and worse and we can arrive to a tragic scenario as foretell before. (Deaths, contamination, lack of efficiency, decrease of growth, unemployment And the list can be very long. But, on another hand, if governement takes very earnestly in consideration the impact of the environment on the economy and on inhabitants and acts by the establishment of many actions, China can continue to play an important role and maybe become a strong power.
