The notion I'm going to talk about is idea of progress. Idea of progress can be define as an advance, a development or a gradual betterment of technics or science. But we can also talk about the social progress. To illustrate this notion, we chose to study the Unit 11 "Higher, Stronger, Faster" which is about progress in sport like prosthatics, doping, etc.

[...] I think the aim of the photographer is to show the evolution of women's place in sport thanks to the social progress. On the second photograph, we can see Oscar Pistorius, the South African double amputee, ready to run with his artificial legs in the Paralympics games. Here again, we can see that social progress enables us to accept the invalids in the society but there is also the technical progress like the prostatics which enables to “normalize” them. II] The progress causes economics inequalities For example, I choose a caricature by Chappatte on which we can see a car on the middle ground and a wealthy man on the background, who is filling the car with ethanol fuel based on pure corns. III] We can't deny that technical progress has increased our relations with others Indeed, even if our generation is a generation hooked by technical progress like computers, internet, we can say the social networks like facebook, the phones, are really useful because they enable us to stay in contact with our families and our friends. What's more, the social networks enable us to be more open minded because we can meet people from different culture or countries. [...]
