This report is an approach to the method of statistics. The objective is to create a study, conduct it and report on a topic. The related activities include searching for data, collecting information, gathering surveys or studies already conducted about it and finally proposing a final research design to answer the primary question. The report will analyze the following question: What percentage of Parisian people really take ecological measures in their daily life? The question will be answered in a series of steps: all the information is gathered through the web and other sources, and the subject is explored through different types of analysis (questionnaire for example). The objective is to start from the most probable answer, and to compare it with the result obtained after these analyses. What the reporter is going to study is the Parisian people's ability to take ecological measures in their daily life. There are lots of ways to be involved in the fight for a wealthy earth. It begins from recycling paper to sorting garbage. The objective is to make a global analysis on how many of them really get involved in this process, because fighting for environment has become a fashionable subject and lots of people pretended to do so without doing anything concrete.
[...] About this point we were right because only 10% of Parisian people sometimes print on it. But we noticed that 20% of the global population regularly prints on the both sides of the paper and utilizes useless printed paper as scratch paper. As a consequence, involving in the protection of the environment among Parisian population is higher than what we expected! It is obvious that a huge city as Paris has big means to achieve that: a lot of money to build tramways, renovating subways, or build buses ways instead of car roads, assuming a strong garbage selection process etc. [...]
[...] It is the same for individuals: a lot of them pretending to take measures but it is hard to verify. Obviously we cannot check all the houses to make sure that they do what they say but it would have been interesting to take a representative sample of the population to measure that. As we are students, we do not have the tools and the time to organize such a survey, so we decided to establish a fifteen-question questionnaire, and we submit it to several people from different socio professional category, age, and gender in order to make as fair and realistic as possible. [...]
[...] The objective was also to remember people that there are a lot of ways to fight for the environment, and one of them tells us that this questionnaire will be the occasion for him to begin in taking measures. If government makes some advertising on TV, it is not always receipted by all the consumers. Recommendations Government should take more measures about communication. If some ads passed on TV, billboards or on the internet, we are not enough informed about the acts we could take. It should improve the communication already done. [...]
[...] According to you, what are the advantages of recycled paper? . Considering that recycled paper is more expensive, are you willing to pay more for it? Yes Given that a 500 sheets block of white classic paper is almost and that the same category of recycled paper is almost in which proportion are you willing to pay more for recycled paper: Less than Between and Between and More than No According to you what are the main disadvantages of recycling paper? [...]
[...] We tend to think that if more and more people are taking conscience of the ecological problems, they are not so many to really take measures to resolve it. The general conscience makes individuals more responsible, but at different levels. We tend to think that they select garbage and are more vigilant about energy consumption. Beginning this report, we think that printing less paper is not a spread habit. First of all because energy consumption has an impact of their expense, but paper does not cost so much and it is an effort less apparent than selecting garbage. [...]
