Since the 1970s, scientific research concerning the environment has been increasing. The vital concern is global warming. According to research, global warming is currently becoming worse and it affects a lot the hole in the ozone layer, making it bigger. The proof is the increase in the number of natural disasters such as hurricanes, tsunamis and also the rapidity of the melting ice and the wiping out of animal species. The question is why so many measures have been taken to protect the environment in the last four years?
[...] In France, Nicolas Hulot and Yann Arthus-Bertrand multiplied TV shows and interviews to sensitize the population. At a political level, green parties appeared to proof how important the environment protection was. However, facing numerous illegal actions, governments realized they had to take appropriate measures. Ministry for the environment were created and each country takes it own measures to protect the nature. In France for instance, in 2007 was held the Grenelle de L'environnement. Its responsibility was to find solution for a sustainable development. [...]
[...] Thus, citizens also take part in the environment protection. They are trying as much as they can to reduce their consumption. They use less water and less energy, and in counterpart they use low energy light bulbs. In the same time, they walk or take the bus instead of using their car. Some of them even manufacture their house with recyclable or naturals materials. In the end, they begun to recycle paper, bottles and all they can in order to protect their environment, for them and their children. [...]
[...] The question is why so many measures have been taken to protect the environment over the last four years? To face these problems, many solutions were found; on the one hand by the organizations and on the other hand by the states. These solutions permitted to citizens but also to firms to take appropriated measures to face the global warming. Apart from the scientific research, many associations and organizations appeared in order to protect the environment. The Club of Rome was the first to deal with the environment and nature. [...]
[...] The UN also created the UN Environment Program which goal is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. One the most famous international action is the Kyoto Protocol. It's a protocol to the international Framework Convention on Climate Change. It has been adopted in December 1997, by 174 countries. The EU adopts it only in May 2002. By ratifying this protocol, countries commit themselves to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by an average of over the period 2008-2012. The USA and China haven't ratified the protocol. [...]
[...] They really make efforts to protect the environment. The creation of the A380 is a real symbol because it shows that firms were able to manufacture a bigger plane which was less pollutant and which consumes less energy. Besides, car industries make effort to create electric cars or less pollutant cars. The numerous international auto shows proved these efforts because, since the beginning of the 20th century, the star of these meetings is the electric car. At the beginning, the environment was the preoccupation of the scientists only but, their research slowly sensitized all the people, from the politicians to the firms and also the citizens. [...]
