Women's rights - Equal rights - violence
I'm going to talk about the idea of progress. First of all, I'd like to give a definition of that, this notion includes the forward movement, advance, and especially the progressive of humankind.
In order to illustrate the notion, I've chosen 3 documents; the speech of Hilary Clinton, an address of Margaret Chan, and finally an ad by an organization called: “No to the violence against women”. They deal with the women's rights. So, we'll see if these documents arouse the awareness of people.
I'd like to start with the speech of H.Clinton, which was delivered in Beijing, China, at UN in 1995. She attacked several countries which didn't respect women's rights.
Indeed, she denounced several situations: baby girl who are killed at birth (China), genital mutilation (a few African countries), prostitution (Europe, Asia, South Africa…), rape and domestic violence (everywhere in the world). It would be very nice if I could show you this speech but...
Anyway, in order to convince people, H.Clinton used a very determined tone, speaking loudly and clearly. What's more, she insisted on the idea that women's rights had to be respected by repeating: “it is a violation of...” like a leitmotiv.
She finished her speech to add “let it be that human's rights are women's rights, and women's rights are human's rights, once and for all”. So, she was drawing a parallel between human and women's rights, to show women also have to be protected.

[...] We have sympathy for them; the positive aspect is that we know where we could see these ashamed situations. What we want is a wonderful world with same rights, same respects, but unfortunately there are always men who won't stop, and we couldn't change their mentalities. I'm well aware that these speeches, adverts, are very useful and important for the humanity, despite narrow-minded men, and I strongly believe that they awaken our consciousness. However, I'd like to finish to add that every man must be respectable to their wife, like they respect their mother, or daughters. [...]
[...] To conclude, there is a link between H. Clinton and Margaret Chan's speech, on the one hand they are against discrimination we know that, but they are also embodying all the women's voice in the world. They have unforgettable speeches. Then, they call everyone to support them, and join forces to make sure their health is not compromised simply because they were born female. To my mind, the document that seems to best illustrate the violence against women is the ad, which has been made by an organization: to the violence against women”. [...]
[...] This speech was delivered on the International Women's Day in the website of WHO. Like H. Clinton, her message focuses on a major issue which is the equal rights and opportunities for women and girls, for better health. She draws our attention to the fact that in many countries there are still social exclusion, killings, female genital mutilation, trafficking, restricted mobility and early marriage among others Moreover, she insisted that the International Women's Day, is a day of celebration and reflexion on how to eliminate discrimination.
