Why did we choose Monsanto as a subject? When we watched a documentary on Arte last week, we were surprised and really interested in all the revelations which were highlighted. Secondly, we did not know anything on Monsanto before. So, we took the decision to share all that we learnt about this. Monsanto is the firm that owns 90% of Genetically Modified Organism's (GMOs) cultures all over the world. The firm was created in 1901; and it quickly became the most important chemical firm in the whole world. Who is hidden behind this unknown giant? The answers are frightening? Monsanto created the PCB, which is chemical oil, their most profitable product at that time. PCB poses a health hazard. The company however put it into the water in a river, which went along a village. Numerous people were contaminated. Monsanto said in a private and internal report that: "We can't afford to lose one dollar of business". Tests conducted on the water from that river were astonishing: Fish which were put in it, died approximately 3 minutes later. The water was totally polluted

[...] That hegemony of Monsanto deprives all these countries of their food sovereignty. Benefits of Monsanto in 2007 rose in 1 billion. As far as the shareholders are concerned, there are hundreds of thousand small shareholders, banks and pension funds person's work for Monsanto in 50 countries all over the world. After all these elements, we are able to say that Monsanto is really powerful, rich and influent. But despite all this, we don't have to forget that each dollar counts, underlined by the edifying sentence: can't afford to lose just one dollar of business”. [...]

[...] We absolutely have to talk about Arpad Pusztaï, a Scottish scientist who studied GMO for an “independent laboratory”. He had to study the impact of transgenic potatoes on rats. He found after a few days of feeding that there had been a proliferation of the cells in their stomach. There is a potential risk of cancer. The FDA noticed that it was a neutral technology whereas Scottish scientists found it was the technique of insertion established by Monsanto which was bad used. Monsanto kept an eye on the Scottish work. [...]

Everyone thinks this product is biodegradable. In fact, the firm was accused and condemned for misleading advertising. In fact, the term biodegradable is totally false, it is really harmful for Humans and nature as far as biodiversity and pollution are concerned. It is highly toxic; it provokes a dysfunction in the cellular division. According to a study from Robert Bellé (scientist at the CNRS), RoundUp” is an engine in the genome instability, and from this instability a cancer can bear. [...]
