He also underlines his Administration's will to strengthen even further its relationships with Native American communities in order to improve every American's life without any exception. [...]

Expression écrite At first sight, it seems that preserving one's language and traditions is usually of much help to build a unified national identity. Indeed, by speaking a common language and by sharing similar customs and habits, people are more likely to connect to each other and therefore to identify themselves to the same nation. [...]
[...] Nevertheless, there are various counterexamples to this idea. First, it is possible to share common language and traditions and not to be part of the same nation, as is shown by Gulf countries - although they also have specific traditions of their own. Furthermore, as is shown by the US model, it is possible to preserve languages and traditions of different communities, all belonging to the nation, without the latter being divided. To conclude, I think that preserving one's language and traditions is of the essence to build a unified nation, but that this unity does not involve uniformity and that various traditions and languages can intertwin into one unified nation.
