[...] This movie speaks about the political world specially in the US. If you have liked Welcome to Mooseport (2004) or Head of State (2003), you will love it. It's an amazing film who thought-provoking in politics nowadays. It relates the story of Gary Zimmer (interpreted by Steve Carell), a Democrat political consultant who saw his career go down the escalator after Trump's election victory in 2016. He sees a golden opportunity for him when he sees on YouTube a video of Jack Hastings, a retired colonel from Deerlaken, a little town in Wisconscin, who stands up to his town council and defend the disadvantaged. [...] Jon Stewart doesn't hesitate to strike by revealing the hypocrisy of politicians who are interested in small-town voters just to get their votes, they make promises to them and then leave while they need them and ask for help. That is a terrible shame, and it exists today. In addition to this, the lot of money spends in campaigns needlessly, defamation in politics, representants who lie and the press who diffuse information without verifying their reliability. Jon Stewart reveals us that American politics is based on money and media. The most successful at the movie is the cast. The actors are perfectly in harmony with his characters. [...] There are images of nature, cows, countryside that give a real dimension to the film. When we watch it, we feel in nature. There are often still's images with a close-up to mark a reaction. The music is well chosen, they keep us awake throughout the film. This movie is absolutely to see. It has made me laugh and moved me. It denounces the shortcomings of American politics with a lot of humour and emotions through everyday life : jealousy, betrayal, confusion and suspense. A twist of situations will turn your head.
