Mutual health insurers and European regulations: undermining the mutual difference ?

Newer member states leave less space to public sector in the health insurance and have less of a mutualistic approach to health insurance. The European Union is in favor of a moderat public sector intervention and promotes a fair and competitive market for private health insurance thus turning a blind eye on the older member states that used to resort to mutualist health insurers. [...] European Union is trying to implement regulations that would fit all member states which is a very hard task knowing the strong cultural and financial differences between the member states. Conclusion The EU has to take into account the 3 actors of the health sector Public, Private and Mutualistic. Ensuring that all 3 actors have an important role to play in facilitation the access of all European citizens to good quality health care. European citizens need to have access to complimentary private health insurances of quality and fair price in a fair market.
