A myth is a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact. The truth can be stretch. a hero is a person admired for his achievements, noble qualities and great courage. Indeed, it can be real or not, and a symbol for a nation. The theme here is the place of these myths and heroes in our society.
Why does a society needs myths and heroes ?
First we will see that heroes consists in examples to follow, then we'll see they myths can be used as justification of the events of the past.
[...] The idols we have can be considered as heroes. Indeed, this is usually people that are admired, and are known worldwide for what they accomplished in their life and for this reason people are taken them as examples. They can help us, to face life because they give us hope. For example, a self made men, that can be considered as a hero, is someone who comes from low origins and against all odds, breaks out of his inherited social position and climbs up the social. [...]
[...] All in all, a hero can also be an allegory or a representation with political values that is considered as savior of a nation, and these heroes are created to justify the events and to encourage people to believe. Conclusion : All in all, we can say that society needs myths and heroes because they help the society to built herself. Indeed, children's life is highly influence by their heroes and permit people dream and escape their life. It can moreover give us a example to follow, that will give us hope and guts. At the end, myths can doubtless give a justification of the events of the past. [...]
