Ecrit sur le clip "American Oxygen" de Rihanna.
Nous venons de faire une séquence sur la ségrégation, les personnages importants type Martin Luther King, les évènements importants en Amérique tels quel l'immigration, les attentats, les manifestations, les droits ...
L'idée est d'analyser le clip en prenant en compte les images de celui-ci mais aussi d'analyser les paroles et de faire le lien entre celles-ci et le clip.

During the song and the video clip, Rihanna sings in front of a US flag while a juxtaposition of clips are shown: there are emotional moments of American history such as Obama becoming President, Ku Klux Klan members, Kennedy's children at his funeral, the Black Power Salute at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico or more enthusiastic images: fireworks, astronauts going on a mission, football and baseball games, rodeo or the Statue of Liberty which are symbols of what is America. [...] All over the text, there is a strong emphasis on African-American fights through US history, we see Martin Luther King several times: his speech, his protests for the Civil right movements in the 1960s and his funeral. We see riots too between African-American citizens and the police. More than a new anthem with its dreams and hopes, she seems to criticize the American society and its disillusions. We see lots of immigrants trying to arrive in the USA, poor or homeless people. It is fair to wonder, what happened to the American dream for the homeless veterans? [...]
