She behaves like an innocent person but the inspector is suspicious because the victim was a police officer who knew his assaulter or else, he would have used his gun, and there could have been no fight between two people because he was struck from behind. Besides, the wound was not caused by a sharp weapon, which must remain in the area. Since it is getting late, the inspector remembers about the lamb roast and is surprised to see it isn't overburnt but is just perfect to be eaten. [...]

The director first introduces the story from a grocery store, where he is is funnily fined for causing traffic trouble, as if he was driving too slowly on the road. Mary Malloney is a caring, busy wife who makes everything to please her husband when he comes back from work. This night, after she kisses him on the cheek, he doesn't seem interested in his wife and goes straight to the bar, where he helps himself a glass of whiskey without taking off his police coat. [...]
