I was particularly moved by the poem of a group that talked about gun violence in the United States and school shootings. Our last theme up to date was theatre. We worked on Anouilh's Antigone. The pupils found it thrilling. They were of course asked to play some of the scenes, which they did really well. These first few months have been very successful and productive. I would say that the hardest part was time management. [...]

[...] Assessing my year as a French teacher Since September 2017, I have been teaching French to a 3rd-grade class with fourteen-year-old pupils. It has really been a joy for me, as we have been able to make good progress and treat themes that are dear to me. We first worked on autobiographies and autobiographic novels. In order to do so, I paired with the History teacher, and we decided to make the pupil's work on extracts of the autobiography of Charles de Gaulle. [...]

[...] We have then fifteen minutes to do a dictation, then another fifteen working on grammar. It is only in the remaining time that we can talk about what is really in the syllabus. I wish we had more time! Another problem I have, unsurprisingly, is chatting. It seems like pupils never run out of subjects of conversation. However, I am able to catch their interest by making them interact more in the lesson. Whatever these issues may be, I would never regret these first few months of my new job as a teacher! [...]
