A few days after the first step on the moon by Louis Amstrong, a little boy complains to his mother:
- Mum... I'm so sad... All my dreams about the Moon have been destroyed. I hoped it was like a sparkle shining in the dark sky of the night. Here, just for me, to light me up in this darkness. I used to think it was my confidant, when I was doing some nightmares, deep inside I wished it could protect me from the outside world, from all my fears. When I took a look at the moon, all my tears disappeared. Now I know that's just a pile of dust which brings me nothing. There's no need for me to dream anymore…
What shall I do now? Who will be there to protect me at night?
[...] - Did I tell you how perfect you were to me ? Thank you mum to cheer me up everytime I do not go well. You may not be an astronaut, but you mean so much more to me. I love you to the moon and back. - I love you too my little angel. Now it's time to sleep, good night, have sweet dreams . - Good night mummy . The little boy, exhausted, falls asleep while his mother gets out of the room, feeling very proud. [...]
[...] That is not that easy honey . You know, when I was a little girl I was as fascinated about the moon as you are. But time have changed when I started realizing my dream could never come true. You know, earlier, being an Black female astronaut was not something common. It was completely non-sense, mainly because of discrimination, women were not and still are not able to practice some professions which are described as professions” and astronaut was one of them. I love everyone. - Keep thinking that way You will be a kind and respectful man, and even though I did not become an astronaut, I am proud of myself for having such a son. I want you not to underestimate yourself, I want you to make your dream come true and not to listen to anyone. Keep have faith in yourself, that faith will lead you to the accomplishment of all your dreams. [...]
