Through the two articles retrieved from Les Echos and The Guardian, we can analyse the Peru elections which are taking place currently and more particularly the fact that Keiko Fujimori is favourite for the presidential.
Both articles take a completely different point of view on this 'scandalous' presidential election enrolling Keiko Fujimori, the daughter of Alberto Fujimori ex-president of Peru (1990 - 2000), in jail for crimes against humanity. As the two newspapers took different ways in order to explain this current situation, it is clearly possible to highlight and analyse the similarities and differences of it.
[...] The Guardian bases the article on an overview of the Peru election. The title is mentioning the name of Keiko Fujimori but also includes her competitors for the presidency “faces run- off” (The Guardian). It appears really interesting to confront an article centred on the person of Keiko Fujimori and a second one giving a very general idea of this election. Moreover, we are able to highlight other relative and disparate points through the reading of the articles. Of course, the main idea is the same for both articles but is based on distinctive sub-topics. [...]
[...] Some politicians are simply to get the position of “President” more than running the country and doing something to improve the economy, or social breadth. To my mind there is million other ways to become “someone” for a country than being President and not doing anything for anyone. This is the reflection of an 18 years old French girls not asking herself who is the best person to represent her country in the Presidential of 2017 but who will be the “least bad”. [...]
[...] Les Echos only cites the names of her two main competitors and details very quickly the campaigns whereas The Guardian develops much more the different ideas brought by the others. A last idea important to notice and only exposed in Les Echos is the fact that this election is kind of eventful as half of the candidates have been disqualified for illicit political donations. Finally, we can say that the two articles basically refer to the exact same topics in the articles but following very different aims. II. Analysis Through the two articles studied before, we get a general overview on the Peru Election. [...]
[...] Actually, those people are willing to represent a country, a whole population. They are dealing with rules and laws; they are fighting to make society respect all this but are not able to do so. This is hilarious in a certain way because the real concern in this election seems to be finding who cheated the less, who have been able to make an entire speech without lying. The Economist title is finally a good summary of what I think now that I am just in age to vote: “a farce”. [...]
