Through the two articles retrieved from Les Echos and The Guardian, we get the possibility to have an overview on the Brexit referendum which will occur on the 23rd of June.
This referendum aims to decide if Britain should either stay in the European Union or not. Through the articles, the different reasons why they should better keep on being part of this union or leave are explained. The two articles took a very different point of view to provide an explanation on it to the reader, it is then clearly possible to highlight the similarities and differences of it.
[...] Obviously, the main idea of Brexit guides both papers but they are based on different sub-topics. Phillipe Inman for The Guardian newspaper wrote an opinion piece, full of different arguments from pro and anti leaving the European Union what aims to give different options to the reader from reliable sources and so to build their own opinion on it. Les Echos on its side is definitely more in a pedagogic article, using historical data, explaining why England entered the union and giving many information about this institution nowadays and mostly on its breadths. [...] To my mind, they are right in the way that Great Britain wants to protect its economy, but on another point of view, they should precisely calculate the benefit of doing so because it does not seem that they really know where they are going by leaving the system. [...] Analysis Through the two articles studied before, we get a great overview on the next referendum Brexit which is at the origin of a huge debate in England. To my mind, this is kind of a natural continuation of the tensions and the relation between England and the European Union. In the article from Les Echos, Robert Skidelsky mentions an important detail about the lack of sovereignty in the European Union which paralyses all the changes in the institution in order to grow it and to create a better functioning that will allow to boost the Euro Zone. The two articles stand various options, attempting to find out the issue of this debate whether if they are staying in or not. This is only prospective and they expose sometimes the same arguments but with a different lecture, as for the currency topic. The articles underline that the crash of the Sterling: “the pound skidding down 10%” could either be catastrophic for the English economy and market or either be beneficial, allowing them to reinforce external trading with outside countries as the US.
