The term ethics is derived from the Greek word ?ethos' which means moral science. This discipline serves as a basic guideline to help human beings develop a behavioral pattern. It covers areas such as right and wrong, justice and virtue and so and so forth. Similar to the fragmented branches in science, ethics can be split into several issues. The split is based on their degrees of generality (like applied ethics or general ethics), and thereafter the object that is being dealt with (such as bioethics in health deontology, ethics in business and applied ethics to name a few). The segregation is further influenced by the origin of the ethical concepts (religion, culture, etc). Globally, the concept of ethics boils down to the criteria of determining if an action is good or bad, and to evaluate the root of the action and its subsequent consequences. This practice of maintaining a high ethical culture is followed in the business world at large. The main reason for ethical values is due to the dog-eat-dog attitude dominated in the present day business.
