For my IMC Plan I decided to focus on a new product, the new dual view digital camera of Samsun, the ST550. I will present some figures on the French market of digital cameras. According to Mr. Marc Héraud, secretary-general of the trade union dedicated to the companies of picture, and photography, the number of digital cameras sold could reach 5 million 2009. Moreover the turnover of the photography market in France has reached 1.7 billion Euros. In spite of the financial crisis, the sales increased 4% in the first semester of 2009 compared to the first semester of 2008 whereas on a worldwide scale, the sales decreased close to one quarter. This denotes that the French market is very competitive, and explains why all the brands are represented on the French market of digital cameras: The trends: In opposition to the others electronic sectors where lower prices liven up the market, for the market of the digital photography, higher prices have this effect because consumers now purchase betters cameras That were reserved for the professionals of the photography for a long time. However, since the first semester, the sales have increased by 26%, of which the high end cameras represents one on ten cameras sold in France even if the digital camera is the most sold on the French market.
