The 4L Trophy, a Collective Project

The 4L Trophy was created in 1998 by an organization of tourism specialized in the raids risk: Desertours. Since 2001, this organization works in association with the college of business of Rennes. The 4L Trophy is only opened to the students. Through this event, the participants are going to own and manage a team to affect its objectives, and convince companies to follow them in their adventure; elaborate a schedule and respect it; manage a budget. The 4L Trophy is a rally in all respects different from other rallies. It is a race reserved for the students of higher education that are going to have to cross Morocco, in the middle of narrow rocky tracks and dunes of sands with one of the most symbolic transport French, Renault 4L. Besides the sports aspect, the 4L Trophy is a humanitarian race in the sense that every equipage forwards with him approximately 50 kg of school stationery which it must distribute to the Moroccan children so that they can be correctly schooled.

[...] During the edition 2008, more than 50 tons of exercise books, pencils, and schoolbags were put back to the children in the need. These stationery are indispensable to the schooling of the children stemming from this discriminated region. [...] The reason most often income is the lack of current finance. To mitigate has this, we thus have to decide to participate has an “operation” pen organized by the body of the 4L Trophy. It consists in buying pens cheap to resell them. Spirit adds us at present to resell them to the passer-by, our circle of acquaintances. We appeal to their generosity by clarifying them the purpose of the step. Besides pens, we created self-stick labels on which every person writes a small message, which we shall stick then on the 4L. [...] State of the project The rally it is very well spent and the car had no mechanical problems. We went through 5500 km in 12 days. Morocco is a country with magnificent landscapes and the inhabitants are very friendly. We distributed our stationery to the children. Having returned we exposed the car in the court of the IAE and to tell our adventure. It does not more remain than to spend the oral exam on the project. [...]

[...] But, in sight of the current situation, it is not simple to find companies wanting to participate financially in our project. Furthermore concerning the public financing, the problem of date is a big concern for us. Indeed the deposits of files take place after the deadline of the payment of the inscription. - Administrative: to participate in the rally, it is necessary to be in ownership of a passport. Having made the demand, in October, of 2 passports for the equipage, we received only that of Thomas. [...]

[...] The aim of the project (why you chose such a project) It challenges (and it is there really one) is at first for us synonym for adventure, discovery of the others and our own limits. It is also a generative adventure of new sensations. This way, the Raid 4L Trophy interested us from part the variety of the challenges which he proposes. Besides the sports context, we consider it as a discovery of a world in the social, cultural, political values completely different from ours. To participate in the improvement of the local living conditions represents for us the fulfillment of a duty citizen, solidarity to the persons in trouble. [...]
