This document presents a unique business idea of running a French food shop in the city center of Edinburgh. The shop will sell French cheese, ham, wine and several French alcoholic products. It will be only a sale activity and no manufacturing is involved. The idea of this business is to sell scarce products that are difficult to find in a city like Edinburgh. The shop is named "La Petite France". The name refers to traditional French products and using a French name can be attractive, different and eye-catching. Our concept strives to be different globally in terms of the products offered. We have different aspirations for this business idea. We intend to make people discover French products and French food traditions. By operating in the market of French products in Edinburgh, we hope to open news shops in different cities of UK in the near future. We need a crowded location to be known by everyone, like in Toll Cross for example. The shop has to be situated near the city center, because we need to flash across numerous people, and the city center seems to be the ideal location where people from different walks of life frequent.
[...] Product: Our products will be high quality products, traditional French products directed imported from France. Scarce products to be more different, good smelling and god aspect to be more attractive: the base of a product success. Our products have a good reputation, a well known name like the big brands of French food and wine: Moet, Veuve Cliquot or Delpeyrat for the “foie gras”. Promotion: Our first promotion will be our shop, located in the city centre and particularly in Toll Cross; our shop will be seen by several people every day. [...]
[...] Finally, we can promote our shop with different adverts in Edinburgh magazine or on the street. We need a good presentation for our products; we think to buy French furniture, synonym of tradition, quality, and attractiveness. Resources People We want to be open 7 days a week until 8.30 to It makes 84 hours a week, sharing by 3 employees at 28 hours a week by employees. They have to be punctual, reliable, interested in, polite with the customer and very serious in his job. [...]
[...] In fact, our purchase will increase in the same time as our sales. Finally, after October 06, we think of another increase of sales of 50%. In 18 months, we will be ready in the market and the business will run. We know that, in reality, the sales will increase progressively but it can be easier for us and our survey, to calculate our turnover like that (cf appendix). At the end, we are sure that this calculus model can be equal in term of sales as a progressively calculus. [...]
[...] But, as we say before, for a little business as la Petite France, the location of the business is a critical aspect. Our location will be our promotion in the same time. We need a good location to be well known. Everyone who will walk behind our shop will be interested in. And, if we want to be more attractive, the Saturday and Sunday, with tasting behind our shop for example, it can be possible because Toll Cross is a full location: it's a well known location. [...]
[...] People will live next to our shop sometimes, and they needn't to take their car for shopping in la Petite France. It's a nearest location in city centre and they will be happy to come, it's an easy location. However, a lot of bus takes this road and many people in the bus (married people, single or elderly) will see our shop. Only one negative aspect can be done: no car park. But, it's the same problem for princess street and everyone come shopping as well. [...]
