McDonald's has been for many decades the leading global food service retailer in the world. 30 000 restaurants have been implemented over 119 countries since the creation of the first restaurant in California sixty years ago. McDonald's employees serve about 50 million people per day over the globe. What was a simple walk-up hot dog stand quickly became the largest fast food chain. The figures above show the real impact of McDonald's on the market compared to his two main competitors. Its fast globalization made it become well-known by anybody anywhere. Some sociologists like George Ritzer recently adopted a new concept: The "McDonaldization" of Society which is defined as the process by which a society takes on the characteristics of a fast-food restaurant which is moving from traditional to rational modes of thought, and scientific management. He described this new term by four components: Efficiency, calculability, predictability and control.
