Malcolm X was an Afro-American revolutionary. He dedicated himself to explain the world and find ways to change it. Who was really Malcolm X? What was his impact on the Civil Rights Movement? Malcolm Little is born in 1925 in Omaha (Nebraska). His father, Earl Little was a Baptist priest, a carpenter. Malcolm was also an active supporter of the movement of Marcus Garvey, a Black Nationalist leader who advocated his return to Africa and refusal to integrate into the American society.
[...] He also developed the idea that Afro- Americans had to use the violence in order to self-defend. Thanks to his charisma he extended the movement and became a well-know personality especially after a TV program devoted to Nation of Islam, The Hate That Hate Produced, broadcast in 1959 where he was interview. He married Betty Sanders, a member of the Nation of Islam, in 1958 and they had six girls together, two were born after X death. During the first years past to the Black Muslims, he focus his action on the racial issues only in the United- States of America. [...]
[...] In 1946 after a burglary, he is arrested with two other Afro-Americans and two white women. He and his accomplice (Shorty) were sentence to ten years of jail, usually the punishment, when it is the first break-in was two years. But what was the most reproach to them was their relationship with the girls. Those got one to five years of detention. Malcolm was twenty years old. II. The nation of Islam years Malcolm was incarcerated in Charlestown (Virginia). In jail he got the nickname of Satan because of his hatred of Christian religion and God. [...]
[...] So in 1966, the Black Panthers are found, they used the theory of self-defense of X and they made the promotion of Afro-American identity: “Black is beautiful.” Malcolm X was not a fanatic and fundamentalist, he was aware that the progresses had to be realized all the means necessary”. He had a real political program for the Afro-American. He tried to link his community interests with the one of all the oppress people in the rest of the world. After his liberation, he met Elijah Muhammad in Chicago and became an entire member of the Black Muslims. In 1931, his father is found dead. The police declared it was a suicide. But the black activists and Louise Little are convinced that it was a murder.
