Religion is a very important subject in Spanish life and the most practiced religion in Spain is Catholicism. Catholicism in Spain plays a huge role in Spanish society for numerous centuries. When I was in The Canary Islands, I had the chance to live in the middle of a one-week religious celebration for the Candelaria Virgin. Thousands of pilgrims came from all the other islands around to the village of
Candelaria in Tenerife in honor to the Candeleria Virgin. This is when I saw this that I realized religion is playing a large role in the life of the country.
Nowadays, the actual demographic situation of Spain is quite similar to the others European countries. But this is only after the 1960's economic
development that Spain really changed in term of demography. Indeed, at this time, Spain is assisting to a lot of changes as the increase of the urban concentration but also of the part of women salaried and of the percentage of children in full-time education.
The country also assisted to a diminution of the agricultural population and to the beginning of the consumer society. Between 1965 and 1975, Spain has known the most important demographic growth in Europe, thanks to the economic development of the 1960's; This is the reason why Spain population in very young. Indeed, 69,1% of the population are between 15 and 64 years old.
