[...] Compare and contrast Americanization and globalization The terms Americanization and globalization are very broad and slippery terms. There is no one definition for them however here we shall focus uniquely on the economic model and expansion of each. Globalization has been said to be Westernization or even Americanization in some radical arguments. Will Hutton, author and chief executive of The Work Foundation, says that “globalization has increasingly become a cloak for the export of the American business model as the benchmark besides which all other countries must judge the success of their approach to capitalism and society”[1]. [...] Without this globalization, McDonald's or any other business would not be able to remain outside their home market as there would be nothing for the people to relate to. This is important because it means that we cannot plausibly discuss an Americanization, as clearly there is a mix of local traditions and cultures in the in-coming business. It may be an American corporation in structure, but in style, it, in this case, has been ‘Arabized'. The second example is interesting from a different perspective as it relates to Bollywood. [...]
