In companies nowadays, managers are supposed to get increasing results and improve the performance of their department to help their business to grow. One of key topics is therefore how to improve the performance of a company. It appears that to be able to find this out, you have to go through a deep analysis of your firm's strengths and weaknesses in order to focus on improving the firsts and reducing the second ones, in all departments of the company. Logically, we can assume that what you can best influence is your internal resources, hence adopting the resource based approach, the philosophy of developing the firm through maximizing its internal potential (human, financial, structural, strategic...) to achieve best a sustainable strategy on the long-term. Of course, the resource that has the highest potential in the long term is people.
Your team is the most valuable resource to invest in, especially through learning, training, rewarding and all the developing tools we are going to go through. Your team is the key factor that can give you a competitive advantage and make the difference between you and your competitors, provided you manage this factor properly by developing them so they can help develop your business.
