In 1976, the Cultural Revolution came to the end and finish with the death of Mao in 1977. Deng Xiaoping arrived to the power and started political and economical reforms "the socialism with Chinese characteristics). There will be three waves of reforms:
- The first one from 1978 to 1984 with the de-collectivization of the agriculture, the creation special economic area such as Shanghai and Shenzhen (City border next to Hong-Kong), the beginning of entrepreneurship and the authorization to sell products despite the communist plan.
- The second one from 1984 to 1993 with privatization of companies, a decentralisation of the power of Beijing, renouncement of the price control, the opening of the Shanghai stock market and Tiananmen in 1989 (that showed the evolution of Chinese culture and way of life)
- The last one from 1993 to 2005 with the acceleration of privatisations, the social security and bank system reform and the adherence of China to WTO in 2001.
