Automatic Data Processing - Roseland - American companies
One of the business visits we received at St John's University has been the one of the Automatic Data Processing Company, which is the world leader in human resources management tools and devices. Their service is international, and provides help to companies that are not advanced enough in Human Resources management. The public company, listed in NASDAQ, has been created 60 years ago, in the state of New Jersey. The actual headquarters of the company are located in Roseland.
The annual turnover is around $10 billion, and ADP hires more than 560 000 people around the globe. The public company is pretty famous worldwide, knows as the biggest payroll provided. The company's network is global and really extended, thanks to its specialization in HR and its several locations in the world.
[...] These customers have customers themselves for which they try to facilitate the human resources administration, a difficult sector because of its broad range of precise data. Therefore, the company has to ensure a whole set of things: - First, they need to ensure the regulatory compliance; - They need to minimize payroll and benefits errors, because there are still too many mistakes done every day; - They finally offer packages to companies, giving them various services to take care of their customers' employees, like insurance offers to help the other companies to provide their customers with security plans cheaper than in other companies of the market. [...] Therefore I have noticed a few differences between American and French have ways to manage companies and human resources department, especially concerning policies. For instance, the American companies have to deal with their employees policies, but in France the government takes care of all that. I have noticed that the human resources department is a source of employment, they constantly hire and hire new employees to take care about other companies' employees, which is really interesting. I also liked the fact that the company ADP is a multinational one and take care of many companies worldwide. [...]
[...] The customers may share what they think and together with ADP, they will find the more accurate solution. ADP will provide to its customers services cheaper than the competitors, but of a perfect quality. ADP value chain Now, let's appreciate the work process of ADP's value chain: - The company increases the employees' productivity to improve the profitability of their company; - They choose to decrease the administration burden. - ADP focuses especially on core competencies. The various activities provided by ADP to their customers might be defined by the selection & recruitment, the payroll tax and administration, the employees relations, the training and development, the benefit for retirement plans, the terminations, the regulatory compliance and finally, the risk management and safety.
