nowadays, individual feelings and emotions tend to interfere with the work life. In our contemporary society, suffering is now due to a lot of new factors. People now have the opportunity to choose their career plan. When professional plans don't pan out as they expected it to, there may be feelings of disappointment or frustration. This is why this suffering now affects our lives on a daily basis.
But where is this suffering originating from? Actually, people now realize that they don't do what they truly desire for a living. Once, the ones who complained about their way of life were dreamers. Now, everyone wants to live his passion, and work is increasingly becoming a place to realize our dreams. However, we need to identify why people are still not satisfied. It is obviously not that easy to live out one's passion, but according to all the new markets that have emerged in the past few decades, it is becoming easier.
Some reasons have always been the same. For instance, raising a family implies a lot of responsibilities, for instance, able to provide financial support to the family. Having kids implies that you have to take care of them, which represents massive costs. Usually, people don't wait for a settled life before they have kids. Most of the time, they don't really plan it from a financial perspective, and end up being forced to take or keep a job that they necessarily wouldn't keep if they didn't have this kind of responsibilities. Even if people tend to have children later in their lives, young people also have to take care of their parents. Besides, people stay single longer, which is a lot more expensive than being married. Not so long before, people used to get married in their 20s.
Another responsibility that comes with the evolution of our society is the loans. In fact, young people are now contracting loans for paying for studies or apartments. They don't work as young as they used to (because the working market used to be easier to find a job). Instead, they plan to study for at least 2 to 5 years. Most of the time these studies need to be financed, and this is how they end up getting in debt for a few years, needing a wage provider as soon as possible.
[...] It also happens that he is more charismatic and effective than his own manager. In this situation, there is an unhealthy power relationship and dependence. Finally, the performer is not as comfortable in his private life than his professional life. Not much appreciated because of his directive behavior, people consider that he "puts his personal life after his job". In reality his life is his work - The Secretary in end of career She also has given much to her company. [...]
[...] Its author, Abraham Maslow considers this hierarchy of needs as a logical model for understanding the motivation of individuals. Starting at the bottom, we will seek to meet the levels one after the other, passing the former as a priority. However, this model remains restrictive. If we consider that each person has an "ideal job", it will be defined by characteristics more specific. We therefore consider the Physiological need as the need to have a job, Safety as having a stable and secure job (from a physical perspective). [...]
[...] Nowadays, psychology is getting used to deal with work related issues. To me, it seems to be the most efficient way to fix them, but also to avoid these issues. Once psychology has led us to identify the problems, the type of conflicts, and the form suffering can take, it is to Human Resources department to deal with tools to improve and fix this For instance, Human Resources provide us with a lot of techniques to evaluate employees' performances, and to provide us with a full profile of them. [...] As with any disease, depression is not limited to its well-known forms (the case of serious depression, when the person is no longer capable of anything) As we can suffer a small cough, we can be victim of a small depression, transient, because of bad weather, or the dog. Of course, when one suffers a little sickness, nothing very bad, we still attend work. When it becomes more difficult to get up, because of fever or pain, we get the right to stop working, to get the time to heal. Meanwhile, depression as it affects the most people makes it very hard to get up, and the worst cases do not even have the will to do so. [...]
[...] Actually this is the reason that leads me to believe in it, as it simplifies the issue. The solution is not to try to satisfy everyone. The solution is to create a fair environment. Fairness is a touchy notion, because it is usually used to promote equality in rights (usually concerning benefits and advantages). However a Fair environment means a balanced environment. If it not able to provide full satisfaction to everyone, we can provide the same level of satisfaction to everyone. [...]
