This article presents an analysis of the book, ?the five elements guide of Lundholm and Richard'. The main purpose of this book is to present a guide about strategic leadership towards sustainability. The main question raised by it is: How can individuals be involved in taking actions leading strategically towards sustainability? I am going to develop my own opinion about this reflection bellow. According to the writer, our environment is composed of a fifth element after air, water, fire, and earth. These elements make way for the last one- "thinking?. These elements are interconnected and interdependent. Understanding how changes happen (the air element) has a meaning only if we try to understand behaviors around us and their context (water element). Separate elements don't have any sense and are not useful for the personal developing process because they are linked. You need to develop a holistic view, of your own personal development in order to succeed. Many things are interconnected and are really complicated and unpredictable. Beliefs of people and ideas move all the time with your perception, interpretation and awareness. This method definitely has some limits, the limits of the man to understand him-self.
[...] The explicit is the one which you can teach and transfer to new entrants in the society. This knowledge can be written and is easily recognizable, whereas the tacit is the knowledge you know and you use but you can't really teach them, it is tacit. For example, the way you move your body, you speak etc all this little things which betray your origin system. These two knowledges are the base of the learning organization, themselves recognize as a place of sustainable development for people within. [...]
[...] Framework and theories are not the only tools to use, it require the will to change. A real wish makes your ability to change stronger, biting your lazy part. This is the point of leverage, and then you can use tools of water, fire, earth and air. At this step, your behavior can change with factors which influence it like self standards, emotional reactions, environmental constraints etc (it can be sum up by internal and external factors). The first step in the change is about the behavior intention. [...]
[...] Changing of paradigm, change your perspective even in a complex situation. Understanding our own motivation is one of the key aspects of our self development. It is rather important to know why you get some specifics expectations. It allows fulfilling them easier. One way to follow is to develop personal alert and self interrogation, doubting is a part of sustainability because it makes your opinion and your view changing. I think that implanting regularly feed back with your first circle is a good thing, they can help about thinking on yourself even it could be embarrassing. [...]
[...] One word used is empowerment, it represent as a process where “individuals are able to change from a lever of powerlessness to a state of self confident.” People here gain power and go through the slavery of them-self. You can be in jail of your mind! The fact is will you recognize it? If yes, will be enough strength with you to go through your own fears? The cost of changes could be seen too expensive for the result depending on the person. It is a matter of values, beliefs and mostly self representation and estimation. We call that in France. For example, I never had seen a teacher taking the bus to go to school. [...]
