Educational system france united states management strategy intercultural
Today our world is changing, it is becoming more and more global. In this context of globalization, cultural differences are becoming more and more important.
Cultural diversity is now an asset for the company. In fact, it allows companies to a better adaptation, but also to innovate and better respond to the complexity of the environment. However, diversity can lead to certain risks such as misunderstanding, failure, conflict ... But, companies must take into account these risks if they want to survive in this competitive world. To do so, companies have to understand these risks and implement an effective intercultural management.
To do this we must ask, at the same time, about its own culture and the culture of the others.
My year in the United States, especially in the CIBU Business University California at San Diego, has allowed me to ask me questions about cultural differences between France and the United States. I chose to study the most noticeable cultural difference for me: the education system.
Indeed, I have discovered throughout my stay the American educational system. It seemed interesting to compare it with our own system, the french system.
This institution, the education system is considered a primary institution. However, as we can observe throughout this study, it has many impacts on secondary institution, which is the company. We can then ask ourselves the question: how an educational system can have impacts in terms of management? And what are those impacts?
We will be performing in a first step, a comparative analysis of French and American educational systems. This comparison will be presented from a theoretical point of view but also from a practical point of view through my own observations. Then in the second part, we will highlight the different impacts of this institutional difference on the contemporary management.

But as we have observed previously, is education, in large part, that we "formats" the culture of a country. [...]
[...] The American manager performs a task at a time. Besides, he can focus only on it. Its relationships are exclusively focused on the execution of the task. And finally, it provides a methodical work at a fast pace . Finally, it is important to note that we find each values, developed by French and American educational systems in their own businesses. The education system is therefore a vector of culture as a whole. Each observed value in the education system is reflected in the companies . [...]
[...] However, it is a crucial point. The quality of teaching is based on the quality of the workforce . In France, education is masterful. In United States, the course is carved on the model of the research seminar. The audience is active and constantly raise the teacher's interest by asking questions, involving students in teaching . In a context of low power distance, as the United States, the education process is geared toward students, who discuss with teachers, disagreed and did not show their respect especially outside of school. [...]
[...] I have observed a significant difference in attitude, with respect to time, for teachers and students. Indeed, Americans are very frequent. This is not the case in France. If we take the example of a break between classes which would normally take 10 minutes, it can quickly continue and last for 15 to 20 minutes and it does not seem surprising. This difference is very important, and we find this difference in business after . Finally, the resources available to students are significantly larger than in France (Library, Information, Sports . [...]
[...] In a collectivist society that is more like France, it is a management group. The factors that allow good integration with a task force, ethnic origins, for example, play an important role. The personal relationship is more important than the business . In the U.S., business is more important than personal relationships. We've been able to identify this difference through the education system. Indeed, we found that personal relations were very important for French students like American students . This difference in management is therefore from the same difference in schools. [...]
